Hello all,
I’m still alive and kicking, just overwhelmed by life at the moment. Vieve was going to break it to you, but I’ll do it first: I’m preggers. Big life changes are coming down the line. The pressure is on to establish a creative practice that won’t be tossed by the wayside to be replaced by dirty diapers, childcare and housework.
In my last post I mentioned participating in an event called Ekphrasis where an artist and a photographer pair themselves up and the artist uses the photograph as a jumping off point. I posted the pic I’m using for my inspiration…but I’m not yet ready to show you the painting. Let me tell you, it’s been a struggle. It is difficult to be “inspired on demand” and on a deadline! But I think I’ve finally arrived at a place where it is starting to come together. Will post it later.
Meanwhile, I’m also on the board that is organizing this event and have been given the job of graphic artist. I ended up going off some board member’s ideas, built it up with my own and created an image which will be on the invitations and the banner for the show. Here it is:
